Extensions
If your project is for an extension to an existing building, you should note we will only fund the build costs of non-substantial extensions. See below for our definition of substantial and non-substantial extensions:
Substantial Extension
We will only consider applications for funding the internal fittings of a substantial extension (or new build) if you have your build costs in place and your total project cost not not exceed £250,000. The list of internal fittings includes, but is not limited to:
- kitchens
- toilets
- heating, including renewable energy technology
- floor coverings
- decorating
- lighting
We consider a substantial extension to be any extension which will create a new income stream and/or hireable space and/or the footprint of the existing building is increased by more than 20%.
Non-Substantial Extension
We will consider applications for the build and internal fit out of small extensions in certain circumstances. The types of extensions we consider to be non-substantial include:
- Extensions to create porches or new entrance areas
- Extensions to accommodate a new toilet and/or kitchen layout
- Extensions to maximise useable space and/or re-order existing facilities
- Extensions to create non-exclusive storage space, eg, for chairs and tables
We reserve the right not to accept an application which includes the build costs for an extension if we judge the extension to be substantial, or the new area has insufficient access, for example offices.
