Funding approved for New Play Park Equipment in Lincolnshire

18/07/2023

Children, young people and their families, in Marton and Gate Burton, Gainsborough, are set to get an improved play park thanks to a £58,668.88 grant from FCC Communities Foundation, with West Lindsey District Council contributing over £6,000.

The money will be used to buy new play equipment at the Parish Hall on Trent Port Road.

David Smith, Chair of Marton and Gate Burton Parish Hall believes the improved facility will make a huge difference to the lives of people living in the area.

He says: “This project will provide a real boost to the people of Marton and Gate Burton. It’s fantastic that FCC Communities Foundation has awarded us this money and along with West Lindsey District Council’s contribution we’re really looking forward to our new and improved play park taking shape over the next few months, especially as we celebrate 100 years in April 2023”.

Grant White, Communities Manager, West Lindsey District Council says: “We are pleased to support the new equipment and improvements to Marton and Gate Burton Parish Hall play park. West Lindsey District Council recognise the importance of play parks to promote outdoor play, increase physical activity amongst children, and enable children and their caregivers to socialise with others. We congratulate the Marton and Gate Burton Parish Hall committee on their work to make this project happen and thank FCC Foundation for their support.”

The committee undertook research with local children, young people and families to ascertain what they would like their play park to include (example below) which would encourage them to make best use of the equipment and improve access to socialisation opportunities. They also felt it important to have inclusive pieces of equipment to ensure the play park is accessible to all ages and abilities.

Work is due to start on-site in August.
