North Yorkshire play area now open!

03/08/2023

The much-anticipated play area at Long Marston Village Hall and Recreation Ground is open and available to use, just in time for the school summer break.

The community felt the existing play area needed modernising as it was outdated, felt unsafe, and was underused with parents often choosing to use other play areas further afield. They approached
Long Marston Village Hall & Recreation Ground CIO and worked with them to apply for funding to make the improvements.

The project, funded by a £79,000.00 grant from FCC Communities Foundation, has provided a range of exciting play equipment including a double slide multi-play unit, swings, rockers, a standing seesaw, and a cone climber alongside other stimulating pieces of equipment.

The villagers, and in particular the children of Long Marston were super excited about the new play area and have enjoyed using it every day despite the weather! Professor John Visser, Chair of the Trustees of Long Marston Village Hall and Recreational Ground says ‘This project will be a huge boost to the people of Long Marston.'
