Powering Community Spaces Sustainably at South Hykeham Village Hall

The installation of solar panels and battery system has been completed on schedule at South Hykeham Village Hall.

20 solar panels have been installed with the help of £11,490 funding from FCC Communities Foundation.

The solar panels at South Hykeham village hall are now fully operational and are helping make the hall greener and more efficient. Mike Czartowski, the Treasurer, is expecting that one of the halls biggest costs, electricity, will be reduced over the next few years.

The hall at Boundary Lane is very well used and classes currently on offer include, Yoga, Dance, Zumba, Craft, Art Group, Ukelele group, Dog Training and children's dance.

Bruce Wakeling, the Chairman, said that he was delighted and grateful that FCC Communities Foundation had funded this work as it would make big difference to the hall's finances. He said that one of the main aims of the committee was to keep hire charges down as low as possible to enable as wide a spectrum of residents as possible to be able to afford to use the hall and having solar panels and a battery storage system fitted would help this be achieved.
