Following Burton Joyce Parish Council’s successful application for a £100,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation, it was delighted to welcome the contractors, Whiting Landscape and project managers, Bentley to the site on 17th September to begin the long anticipated transformation of the garden, with completion due before the end of November.

The new garden will include:

A canopy over hard standing, perfect for events, performances, and casual gatherings.

  • Resin-bonded pathways providing full accessibility.
  • A variety of styles of Bench seating
  • A discreet, low-impact lighting scheme.
  • Soft landscaping with sensory and bee‑friendly planting.
  • Additional features including a ‘community information’ noticeboard, a water feature, a way finder and ‘brass rubbing’ posts, as well as the three deer generously bequeathed to the Parish Council by the late Dorothy Pinkett.

Chair of the Parish Council, Cllr Laurence King says:“This project is the culmination of our determination as a village to create a welcoming and attractive ‘heart’ and amenity to the centre of Burton Joyce. Our thanks go to all who have contributed over a number of years to reach this point. We are excited to see it finally taking shape”

The Parish Council will be holding a grand opening event for the community and all those involved when the works are finished and will widely advertise this date as soon as it is confirmed.
