We’re thrilled to announce that the restoration project to replace the floor at Harmston Memorial Hall is now complete!
The original floor was over 100 years old and in desperate need of replacing following a number of incidents and professional surveys. As part of the evidence to support the application to FCC Communities Foundation every house in the village was asked for their thoughts.
The popular hall, located on School Lane in Harmston, Lincolnshire, has an annual footfall of almost 10,000 people and is used by many groups including Young Farmers, Women's Institute, Zumba, Yoga, Pilates and Dance Classes.
The work has taken 9 weeks and has been completed by Heritage Windows and Joinery Ltd. They have laid a new solid oak floor over the repaired dwarf walls and this has been beautifully sanded and sealed. New skirting boards have been fitted, the bar is back in place. The fixed seating has been adjusted and re-upholstered by local company Graham Watson Upholstery. A dehumidifier has also been installed to ventilate the floor space to help preserve it for years to come.
Julien Bridges (Trustee & Secretary) who coordinated the work said “This project wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of our community. We are deeply grateful to the FCC Communities Foundation for the substantial grant awarded through the Landfill Communities Fund, as well as to North Kesteven District Council, the NFU - National Farmers' Union, Lincolnshire Co-op and Harmston Parish Council. A huge thank you also goes to our local businesses and residents together with Memorial Hall hirers whose combined efforts have made this project a reality”
