Funding approved for community garden in Burton joyce
22/01/2025
Residents in Burton Joyce are set to get a newly created community garden in the centre of the village thanks to a £100,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation.
The development of the garden fulfils a long-held ambition to provide an attractive heart to the village of Burton Joyce. With the aim of bringing people together and encouraging a community spirit, the money will be used to install a brand new part-canopied area for outdoor performances, events and activities, plus a selection of curved, straight and circular wooden benches and pathways around the garden with discrete lighting to make it inviting and accessible at all times of the year. The hard-standing under the canopy will also be re-surfaced and a noticeboard installed as part of the funding.
Cllr Laurence King, Chair of Burton Joyce Parish Council believes the facility will make a huge difference to the lives of people living in the area. He says: “We are actively seeking improvements to our village centre and this project will provide a real boost to the people of Burton Joyce. It is fantastic that FCC Communities Foundation has awarded us this money and we’re really looking forward to our garden taking shape during 2025”.
Cllr King hopes the new garden will be ready to use by the summer of 2025.
