Work begins on Pica Play Park Rebuild

17/09/2025

Building work is under way to rebuild the Play Park in Pica, West Cumbria.

The Pica Play Park Rebuild project is a step closer as contractors broke ground at the site on Monday 15th September 2025.

The project, which is being funded by a £40,990.42 grant from FCC Communities Foundation, will provide a full transformation including an all inclusive whirl roundabout, 2x play activity panels, double bay and nest swing set, a multi-play climb and slide unit as well as new surfacing.

Janine Ward, Chair of Friends of Pica CIO, is excited that the project is starting to take shape.

She says: “It’s great to see our vision for this vital community facility moving closer to reality. We are extremely grateful for the funding FCC Communities Foundation has given us and we’re looking forward to opening to the public. We know how much the play park means to the community and the start of this work brings us one step closer to delivering a space that everyone can be proud of.”

The project marks a major milestone for the area bringing people together, reducing loneliness and creating an inclusive social space for children and families to enjoy in a safe, fun and modern environment.
