Bubwith Leisure Centre - Bookings Going Through The Roof!

Prior to the work taking place, the Bubwith Leisure Centre near Selby looked more like an agricultural building than a community facility. Despite being extremely well used by a range of local groups, the roof was in a very poor condition, which meant that water was leaking into the building in several places. In addition to water ingress, it was reported the building was extremely cold during the winter months, warm in the summer months and wasn't cost effective to run.

FCC Communities Foundation awarded £100K towards the £238K project meaning the roof is now watertight and the building is much more attractive to visitors and user groups.

The high spec insulation will improve the efficiency of the building reducing energy bills and benefitting the environment. This coupled with the addition of the new heating/aircon system will allow the committee to ensure optimum temperatures all year round, resulting in additional community usage previously not possible due to poor heating.

The new internal lighting is perfect for different activities for example bowls, where strong light is needed and parties and dances, where ambient lighting is required.

The large windows have been fitted with black out blinds to allow the cinema to operate in the summer.

The external finish is to a high standard, it has stopped the worrying leaks and given a great kerb side appeal to visitors coming down the drive to the Centre. The project has been very well received by the local residents and new bookings are going through the roof!!!
