Major Renovation Project Progresses
09/10/2026
Residents are set to benefit from significant improvements to Launton Parish Hall, with renovation works progressing well and remaining on schedule.
The project is transforming the much-loved community building, ensuring it remains a welcoming, accessible and sustainable space for local people for years to come. Work has been completed on both the interior and exterior of the hall, with major structural improvements already delivering visible results.
Externally, damaged and cracked rendering has been removed and replaced with new waterproof pebbledash, with weatherproof painting due to commence shortly. A previously blocked-up front window will also be replaced with three double-glazed glass panels, creating a brighter and more welcoming entrance area.
Inside the hall, renovation work has uncovered additional usable space and restored key original features. The false ceiling and wall have been removed, while flooring at the rear of the hall has been excavated and prepared for a new insulated wooden floor that will seamlessly extend the original timber flooring already in place. These improvements reflect feedback received from local residents during community consultation.
Accessibility improvements are also underway, with the toilet facilities being remodelled to accommodate wider doorways and create easier access for all users.
Alongside the hall refurbishment, the Parish Council has secured separate funding from the National Lottery Awards for All programme to install solar panels and battery storage. Following a structural survey, strengthening works are now being undertaken to prepare the roof for the renewable energy installation.
Lauton Parish Council has expressed its gratitude to all organisations and individuals that have supported the project, with banners displayed outside the hall recognising the contributions that have made the improvements possible.
Cheryl Raynor, Grant Manager at FCC Communities Foundation, said: "It is fantastic to see the progress being made on this important community project. The Parish Hall clearly sits at the heart of local life, and these improvements will help ensure it continues to provide a welcoming, accessible and sustainable space for residents for many years to come. We are delighted that FCC Communities Foundation funding has helped support the refurbishment and we look forward to seeing the completed building being enjoyed by the whole community."
