Community bowling club strikes it lucky!

Local community members, school children and bowlers from Port Glasgow Bowling Club in Port Glasgow, Inverclyde have struck it lucky and are set to get a new flat roof over their Clubhouse thanks to a £35,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation.

The money will be used to replace the flat roof above the function hall, kitchen and changing facilities at the club on Birkmyre Avenue.

Sandra Malcolm of Port Glasgow Bowling Club believes the total refurbishment of the facility will make a huge difference to the people and groups who use it and also for people living in the area. She says:

“This project will provide a real boost to the bowlers and people in this area who use the facility. It is fantastic that FCC Communities foundation has awarded us this money along with a grant from Inverclyde Council and we are really looking forward to our new roof and hall, making our Clubhouse more sustainable for the future. We are all looking forward to this project taking shape over the next few months when local builder Ecosse start the project.”
