New community space now open following official launch

14/10/2019

Wollaton community groups and residents are celebrating the opening of a new community space in Kingswood Methodist Church.

The new facility is officially up and running following an opening celebration attended by Councilors Steve Battlemuch and Zafran Nawaz Khan at Kingswood Methodist Church, Lambourne Drive, Wollaton.

Reordering and opening up the interior of the old space has created a bright, welcoming area which will greatly enhance the experience of the community. Toilets have been moved and refurbished and a fully compliant accessible WC has been provided. The space benefits from a relocated kitchen hatch which facilitates the serving of refreshments.

The work was able to be carried out with the financial assistance of our funders and the people of Wollaton. A grant of £75,000 was given by FCC Communities Foundation and The Methodist Church “Fund for Property” provided a further £37,500.

Reverend Christine Fox, the minister of Kingswood Methodist Church, is delighted that the new community space is now in use.

She says “This new light, open space at the heart of Kingswood is going to be a brilliant resource for our current and wider Community in Wollaton. We are extremely grateful to FCC Communities Foundation for providing funding as we would not have been able to go ahead without its support”.
