08/04/2019

Building work is under way to create an improved community space for use by the local community in Wollaton.

The “Opening the Heart of Kingswood” project is a step closer since the contractor commenced work at the church in Lambourne Drive, Wollaton.

The project, which is being funded by a £75,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation alongside grants from The Methodist Church, will create a welcoming, well lit community space with improved and more accessible toilet facilities, including a fully compliant accessible WC, when it reopens in September.

The Reverend Christine Fox, Minister of Kingswood, is excited that the project is starting to take shape.

She says “It’s great to see our vision for our project moving closer to reality. We are extremely grateful for the funding from FCC Communities Foundation and we’re looking forward to opening the improved space to the people of Wollaton.”

Cheryl Raynor, grant manager says: “it’s great to see something we have funding starting to take shape and we look forward to seeing the project progress. This is a fantastic project to develop the existing space which will result in a much improved community facility. ”

Reverend Christine is pleased that work has commenced on time and expects the new community area to be ready to use by September 2019.
