New play equipment and outdoor gym to transform Hemswell Cliff

20/03/2026

The ‘Make Hemswell Cliff Glitter’ campaign is bringing exciting new outdoor facilities to the community this summer.

Children in Hemswell Cliff are set to benefit from new play equipment, while adults will soon be able to enjoy an outdoor gym, as part of an ambitious community improvement project.

The developments form part of Make Hemswell Cliff Glitter—a campaign named by local children—which aims to deliver a range of enhancements across the former RAF base.

The new play facilities have been made possible through a £100,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation, alongside £20,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund and £10,750 from West Lindsey District Council. The funding will support the purchase and installation of modern play equipment at Capper Avenue and Minden Place.

The wider project has been led by Hemswell Cliff Parish Council, which has also been progressing plans for a new outdoor gym. Part-funded by the council and supported by contributions from local businesses, the gym is expected to be installed at the same time as the play area, with both set to take shape by the end of June.

Hannah Roberts, Chair of the Play Parks Committee at Hemswell Cliff Parish Council, said the new facilities will have a lasting impact on the community:

“The new equipment will provide exciting opportunities for residents of all ages to enjoy being outdoors and staying active. We are really looking forward to seeing our play parks and outdoor gym take shape over the coming months.”

Shay Towns, Senior Communities Officer at West Lindsey District Council, added:

“After many years of work to bring the play parks into public ownership, it’s inspiring to see how this community’s determination has led to this point. With the support of FCC Communities Foundation, the National Lottery and West Lindsey District Council, new play park areas will be created, continuing the parish’s journey to make Hemswell Cliff glitter.”

Penny Horne, Grant Manager at FCC Communities Foundation, said:

“We’re delighted to support the Make Hemswell Cliff Glitter project and are pleased our funding will help provide such fantastic facilities for children, young people and families in Hemswell Cliff and the surrounding area.”
