New accessible toilets and ramps are now open following the official launch.

Community groups and those participating in bowling will benefit from the opening of an accessible toilet and easy access ramps to the clubhouse and green of Laurieston Bowling Club in Falkirk. A grant of £30,371.00 was awarded by FCC Communities Foundation to convert Laurieston Bowling Club’s committee room into an accessible toilet and provide ramp access to the clubhouse and green.

The facility was officially opened by Ron McArthur, president of Bowls Scotland, at the venue on Polmont Road in Laurieston.

Peter Alexander, marketing convenor of Laurieston Bowling Club, is delighted that the project is now complete
He says: “The accessible facilities are going to make a real difference to those who use them – in particular wheelchair users and those with limited ability. We are extremely grateful to FCC Communities Foundation for providing funding as we would not have been able to go ahead without its support; and to our local contractors Lamont Construction and Bowling Green Services.”

The work has been completed to a really high standard and has transformed access to the well-used clubhouse and green, and should benefit the community for many years to come.
