Visitors to Barnby in the Willows are set to get a new toilet to be located alongside the public footpath which runs through the churchyard of All Saints, helped by a £4,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation.
The money awarded to All Saints Church, Barnby in the Willows will pay for the installation of a Waterless Loo supplied by WooWoo Waterless Toilets, providing much needed facilities for the church where there is no mains water to provide conventional sanitation.
Yvette Wellard, the Church Warden of All Saints believes the facility will make a huge difference to visitors to the church some of whom travel long distances particularly for weddings and funerals, for visiting bell ringers, and for other community events held at the church as well as for many people who come to walk the footpaths around Barnby.
During the last few years, the local community has helped to raise funds to purchase the toilet and the award from FCC Communities Foundation will provide the means for it to be professionally installed to ensure correct siting for optimal functioning. The installation will take only a few days and now, after so many years in the planning, the PCC of All Saints is hopeful that the toilet will be ready to use by summer this year.
Cheryl Raynor, Grant Manger said: “We are pleased to award funding towards this project, which will benefit church users, visitors and the many people who use the surrounding footpaths. FCC Communities Foundation is proud to support community led initiatives that enhance local facilities and encourage wider community use.”
