Christleton Celebrate their new play area
15/10/2025
The Little Heath Play Area is now officially up and running following the launch party which was attended by Local MP Aphra Brandreth at the facility in Little Heath, Christleton. With refreshments for all, games and prizes for the children it was a great event despite the lacklustre weather.
New play area cost £109,815.00 and contains lots of exciting equipment including a Zip wire, climbing frame, nature walk and accessible roundabout, and was helped with a grant of £72,605.26 grant from FCC Communities Foundation as well as contributions from the Parish Council and local donors.
Councilor Elizabeth Inall of Christleton Parish Council is delighted that the project is now in use and officially opened by Aphra.
She says: “The Council felt that most of the existing play equipment was designed for young children so they set up a working group to look at what would appeal to older children and young adults. After some research involving the school and the help of a landscape architect plans were drawn up. After further research involving a public consultations the plans were modified.
The next problem was how to pay for it! We received some funding from Chester West and Chester Council but it wasn’t until we we notified of a successful grant application to FCC Communities Fund that we were able to finally go ahead and appoint a contractor to do the work for us”.
The new play area has been very well received by the local community and is even receiving visits from children from neighbouring communities.
