Funding secured for major refurbishment of Warborough village hall

08/06/2026

Residents of Warborough are set to benefit from a major refurbishment of The Greet Memorial Hall thanks to significant grant funding secured by Warborough Parish Council.

The project has been made possible through generous contributions of £100,000 from FCC Communities Foundation, £75,000 from South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC), and £25,000 from Warborough Parish Council.

The funding will be used to transform the village hall into a modern, accessible and welcoming community facility, including upgraded kitchen and bar facilities, modernised lavatories, improved heating and lighting, a new sprung floor, and a full overhaul of electrics and plumbing.

Megan Hanson, Chair of Warborough Parish Council, said:

“This project represents a major investment in the future of our village. The Greet Hall is at the heart of community life in Warborough, and this refurbishment will ensure it remains a vibrant, welcoming and well-used space for generations to come.”

The hall, originally gifted to the parish in 1930, has served the community for nearly a century but now requires substantial modernisation to meet current needs.

Jonnie Bradshaw, Vice-Chair and Project Lead, added:

“We are incredibly grateful to FCC Communities Foundation and South Oxfordshire District Council for their support, as well as to our local councillors Andrea Powell, Sue Cooper and Gavin McLauchlan for their encouragement throughout the process. This funding allows us to safeguard and significantly improve a vital community asset.”

Cheryl Raynor, Grant Manager at FCC Communities Foundation said:
“FCC Communities Foundation is delighted to support the refurbishment of The Greet Memorial Hall. Village halls play a vital role in bringing communities together, and this project will ensure that the hall remains accessible, welcoming and fit for purpose for many years to come. We are proud to work in partnership with Warborough Parish Council and other funders to help protect and enhance an important community asset at the heart of village life.”

The Parish Council expects work to begin in Summer 2026, with completion anticipated in Autumn 2026.
