10/01/2020

Residents around Old Hall Park are celebrating after the opening of their £120,000 play area. The refurbishment project has given a new lease of life to the play area, off Cromwell Avenue in Warrington.

The play equipment, which was getting old and worn out, has been completely replaced with brand new equipment, for 2-8 year-old children of all abilities to enjoy.

The ball court has also been resurfaced and new Multi Use Games Area is usually -- a steel, anti-vandal fenced area with built in goal post units – has also been installed.

The sparkling new play area was opened by Warrington Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Tony Higgins.

Cllr Higgins said: “These improvements – the latest success for our playgrounds restoration project - have transformed Old Hall play area into a modern, exciting play zone, with new, inclusive equipment, to ensure access for disabled children.

“I’m delighted this work is complete. It’s great news for local families, who can look forward to many years of active play in this fantastic new-look facility.”

A grant of £50,000 was awarded by FCC Communities Foundation for the scheme, with Warrington Borough Council contributing a further £70,000 towards the project.

Wicksteed Leisure Ltd were the contractors for the scheme, which took six weeks to complete.
