Footpath for all

29/08/2023

Oakley Playing Field Perimeter Footpath is now complete and has transformed the 7 acre playing field in Buckinghamshire. The 660-meter perimeter path, made from recycled tyres has created an accessible route around the whole site allowing the Bowls Green and orchard to be easily accessible for the first time. Previously visitors were only able to walk around 1/6 of the field.

The new path has encouraged new people onto the field, including those with access needs such as families with pushchairs, who previously struggled in the mud!

The loop is also a natural exercise space, proving a hit with dogs and their owners and runners, who are using it where previously they wouldn't have run on the uneven and often muddy playing field.

Oakley Parish Council says "The path has been overwhelmingly well received and is improving the lives of many people in the village."

FCC Communities Foundation awarded £46,870 towards the path, which cost £52,557 in total. Pictured are images of the completed path.
