Work begins to create a destination park in Melton Mowbray.

Installation works are underway with the first pieces of equipment now in place.

The project, which is being funded by a £100,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation, will greatly improve the provision of play equipment, once it is open this Summer.

John Southerington of Melton Mowbray Town Estate is excited that the project is starting to take shape.

He says: “In this uncertain time it is great to see our vision for this vital community facility moving closer to reality. We are extremely grateful for the funding FCC Communities Foundation has given us and we’re looking forward to opening this facility to the public. This will allow a greater number of people to enjoy the town centre parks, and encourage families to stay longer socialising and enjoying these valuable green spaces in the town centre.”

The Melton Mowbray Town Estate are very grateful to the FCC Communities Foundation for the award, without which the project would not have been able to go ahead. The Town Estate would also like to thank the other collaborators to the scheme, specifically Melton BID and Melton Borough Council who; working together for the benefit of the Town will see the Play Close and town centre parks improved for residents and visitors to the town and borough of Melton Mowbray.
