A grant fit for a king as new play area opens.
A new play area has opened in an Oxfordshire village following a grant of £81,365.57 towards the creation of a new play area on the Village Green. The funding was awarded to Stadhampton Parish Council.
Children from the village school and local nurseries attended the opening and were soon having great fun exploring 'Stadhampton Castle' and the rest of the new play equipment. Alongside the £81,365.57 from FCC Communities Foundation, the community also donated £1000 via a crowdfunding page.
Cllr Jess Edwards described the need for the project which inspired the initial application for funding "The play area on Stadhampton Village Green has been well used and much loved over the last 15 years but it has reached the end of its life."
The play area has been designed to fit the historical Oxfordshire setting and includes accessible features for children with reduced mobility or wheelchair dependency, this was highlighted as needed in the local area.
