Nene Park unveils new attraction to complete five-year play area revamp

Children can now enjoy the full trio of play areas at a Peterborough park, following the completion of a five-year improvement project.
The new play zones have been taking shape at Nene Park’s Ferry Meadows with the help of funding from FCC Communities Foundation.
The recent installation of a new basket swing at the Otter Play zone completed the project which has seen the creation of the Fox Play adventure play area and the nearby Badger Play area.
The Fox play area was installed in 2021 near Lakeside and gives youngsters a range of play equipment, including zip lines, a tunnel, accessible swings, slides, a climbing tower and water features.
Early this year the Badger Play area was remodelled and updated and the main climbing structure replaced and extra features installed.
Penny Horne, FCC Communities Foundation Grant Manager, said: “It’s fantastic to see Badger Play open and welcoming visitors and also the new swing in Otter Play. Ferry Meadows is one of the region’s most popular destinations, attracting thousands of people each year to enjoy its lakes, woodlands, meadows and family-friendly activities".
"We’re proud to have helped bring these play areas to life and create something that will enhance the experience for everyone who visits.”
A spokesperson for Nene Park Trust said: “As a charity, it is support from local businesses and organisations like FCC Communities Foundation that enables us to offer the wide range of leisure and activity facilities to visitors of all ages.”
