24/06/2019
The new apparatus has officially been opened by Mrs Kirstin Howarth, Headteacher of Isham Primary School, who was very impressed the lovely range of activities it provides for the local children. The launch event was attended by representatives of Wellingborough Borough Council, Trustees of the IPFA, Reception Class children and members of the community.
The new equipment includes three separate pieces of apparatus targeted at children of different age groups and ability, offering both fun and many kinds of physical challenge. It has been funded by a £28,170 grant from FCC Communities Foundation and £14,780 from the Borough Council of Wellingborough.
Douglas Forrester, chair of the IPFA is delighted that the project is now open. He said: “This enhanced facility is going to make a real difference to those who use it and their families. We are extremely grateful to FCC Communities Foundation and the Borough Council for providing funding as we would not have been able to go ahead without their support.”
A Ward Councillor said “It has been a real pleasure to work with the Playing Fields Association to part fund this equipment with a Wellingborough Borough Council Community Grant. The Glebe Field is a lovely spot used by all age groups but especially the young where safe access to creative play equipment makes a huge difference. Well done to IPFA members involved and a big thanks to Gill Chapman and Beth Cox from Wellingborough Council for their support and guidance.”
