Newton-on-Ouse play park set for £78,500 transformation
30/07/2025
The project is being made possible by a £78,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation, along with a £500 grant from Easingwold Lions.
The funding will be used to install new play equipment, refurbish existing play equipment, and resurface the play area.
Stephen Calvert, chairman of the Newton-on-Ouse Community Association (NOOCA), said: "The long history of the playground as a cherished space in the village underscores its importance as a social and recreational landmark.
"It's more than just a play area; it's a venue where generations of families have congregated, forming lasting memories and bonds within the community.
"Recognizing this, we aim to rejuvenate the play area into a modern, multifunctional space that continues to serve as a focal point for families in the community.
"With generous support from FCC Communities Foundation, the Parish Council, and fundraising initiatives by individuals and local groups, we are pleased to announce that we have appointed Streetscape as principal contractors for the project, and work will start in the very near future."
