Refurbished Sports Courts now open for community use.

The local community is celebrating the opening of newly refurbished, free-to-use sports courts at Victoria Park in Glasgow. The courts are now officially available for casual play, with an exciting programme of community activities, festivals and events planned for early 2026.
The upgraded facility offers outdoor courts for both netball and basketball, featuring dual-purpose hoops and goals that allow for two courts for each sport. This redevelopment was made possible thanks to a £32,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation, alongside support from sportscotland, Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Life as well as generous contributions from the local community.
Martin Wright of Glasgow Life expressed his enthusiasm for the project, he says:
“We are thrilled to have worked closely with the local community to create this fantastic facility. It provides a safe, welcoming space for people to enjoy sport and physical activity in the park. We look forward to collaborating with local groups to animate the courts and deliver a wide range of opportunities for participation. We are extremely grateful to our funders, particularly FCC Communities Foundation, whose £32,00 grant made this project possible.”
The courts are open now for casual use. In early 2026, they will be painted with a bespoke design to add colour and vibrancy to the venue. This will be unveiled at a community launch event featuring activities with local clubs and organisations involved in the development of the facility.
