Work is underway on the much-anticipated refurbishment of Belmont Road play area which is being led by Northwich Town Council. The refurbishment is being funded by FCC Communities Foundation, 106 Contributions, CW&C Members Budgets and Northwich Town Council.

Northwich Town Mayor Cllr Kate Cernik said “I am delighted that work on the refurbishment of Belmont Road play area is starting today.

With an investment of £185,000 the new play area should be open for children in Rudheath later in the spring when hopefully we will be getting longer days and hopefully some sunny weather.

Northwich Town Council is committed to ensuring that when it comes to refurbishment, all its play areas are accessible all year round for all children including those with additional needs.

Local residents and representatives from Tiny Steps (a local charity that supports children with additional needs) have all contributed to the design of the new play facilities which will provide a lovely safe area for local children to use for years to come.”

Andrew Cooper MP who worked on the project while a local Northwich Town Councillor expressed his delight in seeing this project begin today and welcomes how accessible the play area will be to all, he said “I am truly looking forward to seeing the play area finished and seeing the local community enjoying the facility they deserve. The best bit about the project is that it is has been co-produced by SEND children and I hope that this will be a model of how we develop inclusive and accessible play areas in to the future.
